I know, it’s the new year; everyone is grumpy, everyone is going back to work, and everyone is probably a good six pounds heavier than they were this time last month. Let’s face it, December usually has a lot to answer for, and it’s usually January that has to put up with our mood swings because of it.
BUT! Here at Mad Hatter Reviews, 2014 is already shaping up to be an exciting year.
No, we unfortunately didn’t manage to dodge the Christmas weight gain (in fact, my six pound estimate might be optimism rather than accuracy) but we’re not letting that get us down. Not when we have so many exciting things going on on the site.
We’ve made friends with the wonderful SilverWood Books, which means we’ll be featuring more of their authors this year - you can already find an author interview in Performance & Arts and a new book recommendation in Books & E-books thanks to their author Harriet Grace. While this is an exciting development in itself, it also means that there will be more opportunities for book reviewers to join the MHR team. No, it’s not a paid position (I’m sorry!), however we can pay you with books, which, from experience, is sometimes motivation enough for the average bookworm. So, if you think you might be interested in working for the site, please feel free to get in touch with us via our contact us form, or you can email madhatterreviews@outlook.com for more information.
In addition to that exciting new development, we’re also opening our doors to everyone and anyone who wants/needs/demands some kind of review/interview/article (circle as appropriate). Last year we received a fair few emails from independent authors and unsigned musicians hoping to get some exposure for their work; it recently occurred to me that you guys - the unsung heroes of music, movies and literature - are exactly the kind of people that I want to write about. So if you’re an indie author, a self-taught artist, a ridiculously talented musician that for some unknown reason hasn’t had the attention that they deserve, or anything in between for that matter, then we would absolutely LOVE to hear from you. However, if you’re none of the above, could you be a sweetheart and spread the word anyway? Please and thank you.
With the doors wide open for 2014, we’re looking forward to bringing you the latest and greatest (and, okay, sometimes the downright terrible) in music, movies, books and everything else we can find to write about! Whether you’re halfway to mainstream, or haven’t quite cracked the scene yet, then we’d be delighted to hear from you and possibly work with you.
Don’t forget that you can get in touch with us via our contact us form, by emailing madhatterreviews@outlook.com OR by dropping us a tweet to @madhreview. Oh! Or Facebook (Mad Hatter Reviews), you can use that, too. So you really have no excuse to not get in touch with us this year.
Happy new year, folks!
